First of all, CONVIVIAL gatherings are planned to happen at irregular intervals and evolve into a more regularly scheduled thing. The first CONVIVIAL was canceled because of hurricane Helene,
in (October 2024) and the gathering didn't happen. The next "first"
gathering will happen during 2026. Exact date to be determined.

CONVIVIAL ORIGIN STORY
A
friend moved to Greenville a few years ago, by way of New York City,
and then Singapore. So, coming from intense urban density to our sprawling
landscape, it was mentioned how meeting new people locally and making
new friends can be such a slow process.
Greenville’s
a busy place with plenty of family-friendly and other community events,
but what about scaled down, easy-going, non-commercial ways to meet a
diversity of like-minded creative souls? It's all about new energy and new
curiosity. And a healthy infusion of laughter is A-OK.
Talk
turned to group events like house concerts, invitation-only gatherings
of music fans at a private home where a well known singer-songwriter
performs for a small crowd of around 30 people.
So,
with that example in mind we decided to host similar casual gatherings,
sans the concert part, where art and cultural interests are a backdrop,
and conversations run free.
