These are artists that I have known for up to fifty years, I consider them friends and I’m well-acquainted with their work histories. Over the years, I’ve taken their workshops and attended many of their exhibitions and art talks at art galleries across South Carolina, Georgia, and western North Carolina. We are all connected via the Upstate South Carolina art ecosystem of art galleries, universities, festivals, art organizations, art museums, and relationships with art collectors.
I have been influenced in so many ways by their teaching and knowledge of studio practice and production expertise. Their scholarship and commitment to visual art stewardship is remarkable. Some are long-established with significant careers, and some are emerging MFAs, inspiring and shaping future contemporary art conversations in the American South.
